Who is this mysterious druid?
How did Heshen come to choose us for this mission? What do we know about him?
Speaking for myself, I came with a group of soldiers from Galt into the woods on a mission that was not fully explained to me. When we found the remains of a caravan and some survivors, my commanding officer interrogated someone, then ordered me to murder some people in cold blood.
When I refused, I was betrayed and attacked, and would have been killed but for Heshen's aid.
He saved my life, and then taught me a great deal about myself over the next few months.
He has asked me to find this book, and I do so out of gratitude and loyalty to him.

A caravan? Based on the gnome's previous story, do you think it was the same caravan that he and his bloodthirsty crew assaulted to steal the book?
ReplyDelete"How did he choose 'us'?"... I'm not sure what "us" you are referring to sir. I was merely hired on our ill-fated caravan by Mr. Grib. As I see it, this area seems ripe for new trade. So I stay. I have already reaped the reward of this fine wax-work. I hope to find more such treasures in this land to bring back to Druma!
ReplyDeleteSeeing as I know nothing of your "rescuer", I'd like to hear if others had a similar tale to tell. Many of you seemed to already have a vested interest in "the book"... Is it valuable? Are there more like it to sell... I mean protect?
This "Heshen" you speak of... could you describe him?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Samanthi (OOC - I have no idea who each of you are IRL since I don't have the names memorized - makes it even more fun). I was not chosen by any other but the great Weaver. She has a purpose for me and guides me - even as the situation becomes more complex. I would like to know who this Heshen is as well.
ReplyDeleteHeshen is a halfling. He has a monkey.
ReplyDeleteThe monkey's name is Soba. It's a smart monkey.
ReplyDelete"I met a halfling in Caliphas who said his name was Heschen Turngrace. He introduced to me by several Pathfinders I was traveling with. He had a monkey. I didn't get the monkey's name. He knew things... he gave me gold and asked me to travel to Yanmass and meet Silas Gribb. He said that Gribb was transporting something to Oppara and asked me to accompany him."
ReplyDeleteThorbjörn pulls a blue crystal necklace from under his tunic. "Heschen gave me this. It is a necklace made from the unmelting ice from the ice mines of the Stormspear Mountains. I could adventure a lifetime and never make the coin needed to purchase such a thing. When I put it on, I knew that the halfling spoke the truth and that I was meant to do as he said. With Gribb dead, I suppose I am meant to find the book and see it safely to Oppara. That is what I intend to do. Nothing more. Nothing less."
Thorbjörn pauses and then continues, "Also, if any of you gets any ideas about this necklace, don't. If you touch it, you will take a long time dying. I swear it in Gorum's name. Even if you run, I will find you. Know this."
