Master Wong heads towards Heschen's room to see if he's burned himself out reading the books all night. He recommends to the rest that they get their gear together for a last buzz through town, the first stop of which should be checking in with the Baroness, Sheriff, etc who sent them to the tomb. Next stop: the spooky monastery.
You find the halfling asleep on the bed, his books tidy, and an empty bowl, formerly full of soup, on the nightstand. You go downstairs, and you find Mal, Thorbjorn, Chad, and Samanthi sitting around a table eating a fine breakfast of eggs, bacon, and ham. The bartender brings out a plate of sausages. "Nothing is too good for the Dragonslayers..." she exclaims with a smile. You notice that that Kulman and Tala are not there. After a few moments, they still don't arrive....
As the group sits to eat, Tala and Kulman walk is, each munching on a big red apples, juice running down their mouths. Kulman looks a bit content - perhaps more so than you have seen him in a while - but still concerned. Tala, on the other hand, looks quite different.
Where before you have seen her in armor, dressed for battle, hair back in a braid, she now wears a deep dark black cloak, hood drawn, shadowing her face. Her cloak is clasped with a silver half-circle bisected with something akin to a sword. Her hair is no longer bound but hangs loose under the hood. Gone are the Drow longknives you have grown accustomed to seeing and instead you are able to catch a glimpse of a longsword, blade as deep black as her skin with a glint of silver.
She lowers her hood and immediately you notice her eyes. Where before they were white with pupils, now they are jet black - no sign of white. She looks at you, or at least you think she is looking at you, and you observe something you have never seen in the warrior - a slight grin. She puts her arm around Kulman and extends the other towards the group. "Come, my friends, we have much to do. Let us rid this place of the dragon and solve the real riddle here. My Mistress is in need of our help..."
Samanthi stops in mid-bite, with a piece of weapy bacon hanging from his lips. "Whoa, Tala", he says inhaling the bite of pork. "You look... happy. Did you and the gnome have a good time last night or what? Don't get me wrong, he's quite the handsome lad... but I didn't think you were into that sort of a thing. Not judging here... mostly jealous. And speaking of jealous, that is a very nice sword you have there. Did you put in a special order w/ the blacksmith before we left for the crypt?"
"Happy is a relative word. Let say that I am...less alone in my concerns. Kulman is the perfect gentleman - what you would expect from a knight. As to the sword," she pauses as she unsheathes the blade, showing off the cold iron with a streak of a silver-colored metal running from tip to hilt, "well, that is a gift from the ruler of the night. But have we not talked enough? Isn't there a drago we should be slaying?"
"Mmmm... Bacon. Yes, after Wong checks w/ Heschen, I say we should pay a call to our other local benefactors to relate the events of Tula's tomb and then head out to the Monastery. Wong, do you have sufficient paper and pen for note taking? Anyone w/ a particular knack for sketching should also grab some paper. I get the vibe from Heschen that everything, including diagramming the actual layout of the building is going to be important."
"I still have some sheets and a pen, but should probably get more in village, given how anxious Henschen is about notes and maps."
Wong will check for more paper and ink on the way out of town. Also some charcoal sticks for rubbings, and bigger pieces of parchment or paper if possible for large rubbings.
Once everyone finishes breakfast, the group sets out, stopping to update the Baroness, the Sheriff, and the gnome. Also to buy supplies to document the monetary. Anyone need anything else on the way out of town?
