You step through the tapestry and emerge in a small cavern. Thirty feet away, the entrance opens up to quite a scene as a small town's screams echo throughout a snowcovered valley. The cause of the panic is apparent, as a massive white form hovers over several buildings, a cone of deadly frost bursting from its open maw. Its gigantic wings beat in the falling snow, stirring up small opaque tornadoes. The beast screeches loudly, then soars to the north, disappearing in the wintery sky.
"Where the hell are we?" Mal whirls to scream at nobody in particular, "That bitch double-crossed us! We've been set up!"
ReplyDeleteDude. Mal. Chill.
ReplyDeleteAlls your screamin is gonna do now is hurt our ears.
Somethin tells me that us showing up here wasn't a mistake. We're like, Dragonslayers now, so let's go slay us a dragon.
[Soba whoops in excitement and jumps up and down on Chad's shoulder]
Not a mistake?? Did you not see what happened? That bitch just cut down our friend- my friend! The guy who saved my life! And she was supposed to be our friend! She was the one who got that Pathfinder captain guy to bring us here, and she WANTED us to come through this door! We're here because SHE wanted us to be, and I'm not working for her. I'm going to kill her!
ReplyDeleteThat's all well and good dude, but we're like, not anywhere near her now. Your revenge is gonna have to be served cold, man.
ReplyDeleteAnd... there's a dragon over thar.
Mal squints off at the retreating silhouette of the wyrm.
ReplyDelete"What kind of dragon was that?"
Wong peers into the distance at the retreating winged shape.
ReplyDelete((Takes 10 totalling 37 on his Knowledge: Arcana check to identify the dragon, its properties, etc.)
Dude. It's like a white one. A big white one.
ReplyDeleteI bet if I shoot it enough, it'll die.
It is a beast. I know that now... I was concerned, worried, torn between a choice that I felt we were all going to be forced to make... Chromatic Dragons or the Races of Magic. Wong had said it, and it has been weighing on my mind, can we commit genocide?... Now I know, it isn't a question of can we, we must. Those monsters are sucking the life of thousands of creatures across the realm. They are being assisted by that lying bitch that just killed our friend. They are evil. They deserve the fate we shall bring down upon them, death.
ReplyDeleteTala shakes her head. "Usually I would be offended by your use of the word 'bitch' as it is demeaning to the female of the race. But in this case, that elg'caress cunt shall have the fury of the Dark Maiden descend on her like an iblith storm rising from the oloth. In the meantime, let's figure out how to get down from here and put that tagnik'zur back to realm from which it came."
ReplyDeleteThorbjörn grins toothily at Tala, "Such language, such violence! You should stop talking like that, you're getting me all excited."
ReplyDeleteHe looks around. "It's good to be home... Now, let's go kill that fucking lizard."
"Dragon, adult white. VERY at home in cold and ice. So cold it can hurt a bit if you get too close. Can even see through snowy conditions. Can even shape snow and I've to it's will. Hard to hurt without magic weapons. Deadly ice breath. And of course the dagger-like claws and sword-like fans"
ReplyDeleteWong's jaw clenches slightly as he examines the village below. "The villagers below could most likely use our aid. Speaking from logic, we would do well to render them aid because it will indebt them to us. Speaking from the heart, we should aid them because it is right. In any event, is there anything we should do besides head down to the village, tender aid, and find out where exactly where we are?". Wong gives Thorbjorn a sideling glance. " Inevitably, being this far north, they have most likely mastered the art of creating intoxicating beverages. "
ReplyDelete"Gents. As we are standing in a cave, in the middle of nowhere, in the cold... I for one don't see any reason to delay here. We are, after all, the The Belhaim Dragonknights... Let us off to the town to do what we do best..."
ReplyDeleteAnd so the group cautiously walks down into the valley. ((Let us know if you want a marching order or whatnot)).
