Kulman’s voice seems to seep into the cold air beyond the
cave. For a few moments, nothing
happens. Then there is the smell of burnt
sugar. Then a voice, almost the echo of
a whisper, then getting louder, as if approaching quickly.
“Godsdamned, Echean….what the fuck are you doing!?” a female voice says, the whisper almost
becoming a scream.
Suddenly, appearing out of the thin cold air, standing between you and Kulman are three
figures, all facing you. A female
Halfling with a light cloak, a tall female woman, heavily armored, a greatsword
on her back, and a tall dark haired elf, holding a wand in his hand
.
The Halfling speaks in the same angry voice heard
earlier, then rolls her eyes. “Son of a bitch! Seriously Echean?!?” she
spits, as if annoyed, as she draws a rapier.
In one swift action, the tall human pulls her sword from her back. The Halfling looks at your group, clearly
sizing you up before saying...
.
“Alright, who in the fuck are you people?”
"Ty'wina please, it is me Kulman... I called Echean because my friends and I need your help... There is no need to raise blades. We are battle weary, we have been out of time for almost 9 months, and have much to discuss. I believe we have information that all of us can find beneficial and that together we can help each other. There are forces at work that desire to enslave us all, and I know that you, Inaris, Echean, and Derrak have no desire to be subjugated. Let us greet as friends as we left and I will introduce these people before you and explain what has occurred and what we believe is coming..."
ReplyDeleteWith that Kulman with arms out stretched and palms up bows his head to Ty'wina and the Children of Steel....
Looking up for a moment in a bit of shock Kulman asks, "Where is Derrak, is he ok? I will explain everything but please do not draw down on my companions and I we simply seek counsel, friendship, and knowledge all of which we offer."
Thorbjörn eyes the heavily-armored woman appreciatively and begins to smile. Suddenly remembering that these people just appeared out of thin air, his smile turns into a scowl. He mutters under his breath, "Are we never again going to talk to people that walk from place to place and go through doors?"
ReplyDeleteThomas turns his head slowly and with wide eyes looks to Thorbjorn. He very, very slowly and gently shakes his head. With Kulman's warning still in his ears, he turns his head cautiously back to the new arrivals. With attention squarely on Kulman's "friends", he attempts to stand as still as possible... breathing slowly, and makes NO sudden moves.
ReplyDeleteThe Halfling lowers her weapon, nodding to the human, who in turn does the same. Without turning towards Kulman she speaks. “I was about to say I need to have a talk with my mage friend here, removing us from a profitable situation without notice, and bringing us….here.” She smiles. “Then I recognized you, and perhaps forgave him, thinking that he had found us a better deal.” The smile slips away. “Then I realize he brought us here to help a former squire. Once again, not happy.” She looks to the side, perhaps glimpsing the gnome from the corner of her eye. “Kulman, now don’t get me wrong, when I heard that you were involved in taking down the lodge I thought that you had a change of heart and maybe you hit the big time. Granted, I was hurt because I offered you a place in my crew first, but still, I was a impressed. Raw talent.” Her head tilts slightly towards the armored female. “Inaris, didn’t I always say I thought he had raw talent. I was right. Maybe I should have made you a better offer.” She glances back towards the group. “Now, that being said, squire, tell me now why we shouldn’t just put your and all your friends’ heads in a bag and go collect a shitload of money.”
ReplyDelete“And by the way, don’t mention Derrak again, or I may not have the patience to listen to your explanation.”
Thorbjörn growls. "Kulman, I am getting very tired of being threatened today. Every man's got his patience and here's where mine ends. So, do something to remedy this--or I will."
ReplyDeleteAt Thorbjorn's retort, Thomas' eyes nearly bug completely out of his head. With hands in plain sight and w/ no sudden movement, Thomas slowly slides toward the side of the cave OPPPOSITE Thorbjorn.
ReplyDeleteAS Thomas moves to the side opposite Thorbjorn, he bumps into something soft, in the shadows. He hears a whisper..."Hey squishy one, what makes you think I want you over here? Mind you manners and return to the light, where you belong." Tala pushes him in the direction is which he came, back across the cave...
